The Sales Guidelines feature allows you to dictate the exact sales strategy the AI should adopt based on the visitor's browsing context. You can enforce a pitch, suggest specific accessories, or highlight a warranty with pinpoint accuracy.
Contextual Engine (Eager RAG)
EcomBot uses "Eager Retrieval" technology. The AI knows exactly which product page your visitor is currently viewing. When it detects that the page matches one of your guidelines, it silently injects your instruction into its reasoning before answering the customer.
This enables highly relevant cross-selling without bloating the bot's global knowledge base.
Available Targets
Unlike classic manual recommendations, sales guidelines can target large segments of your catalog:
- By Category: Apply a guideline to all products within a category (e.g., "Always suggest the leather care kit for all items in the 'Leather Sofas' category").
- By Product or SKU: Target specific products using their name or unique identifier (SKU). (e.g., "Remind the customer that this specific e-bike model is eligible for state subsidies").
How to configure a sales guideline?
- Go to your EcomBot Dashboard, in the Training Hub section.
- Click on the Sales Guidelines tab.
- Click on New Rule.
- Select the target categories and/or products using the intelligent search engine.
- Write your instruction in natural language. Be direct and specific.
- Click Save.
💡 Tip: Test your rules in real-time Use the parameter
?test_recommendation=1at the end of your store's URL to display a debugging interface. It will show you exactly which guidelines the AI is currently reading on the active page.
Examples of effective instructions
- "Decking" Category: "If the customer asks for a quote, systematically suggest adding stainless steel screws and adjustable pedestals."
- "IPhone 15" Product: "Suggest the Magsafe protective case for $29 with this phone."
- "Winter Clothes" Category: "Insist that free shipping is available for this category of products worldwide."
